Quoted from Todd's email:
"In 1946, the Oakville School District bought its own buses and began
transporting students in the Oakville area to Mehlville High School. When the
areas of Mehlville, Oakville, Point-Breeze, and Washginton were consolidated as
the "R-9 School District" in 1951, transportation for students of all four
regions was then the responsibility of Mehlville R-9. The Oakville and
Washington buses were phased into the new school district. The above photo is at the end of a school day in Fall 1949 outside Mehlville High
School."
The bus nearest the camera is owned by the Mehlville School District R-9, and is
a 1940s Carpenter Conventional on a White chassis.
