Year: 1977 Model: Wayne Lifeguard with an International Loadstar 1700 chassis ID: 38 Owner/Operator: Mehlville School District R-9, St. Louis, Missouri Location: St. Louis, Missouri Quoted from Todd's email: "Buses 35-52 (no #42 though) were purchased in late 1977 by the Mehlville School District in St. Louis, Missouri. By late 1977, the District's fleet had really aged. Due to budget constraints, no new buses had been purchased in three years. So, that's why Mehlville accepted Wayne's bid to build and deliver 17 buses at one time. Most of these 17 buses were in service from late 1977 until 1987, and a few lingered through 1989." In the picture above, bus 38 is immediately proceede by a 1973 Carpenter International Conventional, and two 1980 Carpenter Ford Conventionals.
