Year: 1996 Model: 65-passenger Crown by Carpenter Conventional on a Ford B-800 chassis with a Cummins 5.9L diesel engine, an Allison AT545 automatic transmission, and air brakes. ID: 34-96 1st Owner/Operator: Utica Community Schools, Utica, Michigan 2nd Owner/Operator: Trinity, Inc., Detroit, Michigan Location: Auburn Hills, Michigan This bus has a wrecked transmission. Purchased in this condition by its 3rd owner, it was driven from downriver Detroit to Auburn Hills (probably 30 miles) while stuck in first gear. Photos By: Mike's Bus Yard, 23 May 2009 |

This bus got beat up by its second owner. The exit windows rattled very badly. The screws in this window were so loose, particularly in the latch mounting plate, that I probably could have pushed it out without unlatching it. Not good!

This three-point latch was broken.

Betts lighting fixtures with snap on lenses for the entire bus used to be characteristic of Utica buses. These recessed turn signals are particularly unique, however.
