Location: St. Louis, Missouri Quoted from Todd's email:
"End of a typical school day in Fall 1971 outside Mehlville High School in St.
Louis, Missouri. Notice the '60s model Carpenter buses, plus a '68 Wayne or two.
There are also '66 Thomas buses in the shot, but difficult to make out.
The Mehlville School District owned/operated about 100 buses in late 1971 when
this picture was taken. Some 35 buses were assigned to Mehlville High School,
and another 30 were assigned to routes at the District's newly-opened Oakville
High School. The other 35 buses in the Mehlville fleet were spares or used for
activities, sports events or used by substitute drivers.
Soon after this photo was taken, the buses in the Mehlville fleet each had its
fleet number painted on the back of the bus in the lower right corner."
